Terms & Conditions
1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") are the agreement between you and the developer of Folia Family Calendar ("Folia", "we", "us"). By downloading, opening or using the Folia app or website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Folia.
Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your information. It is part of these Terms.
2. What Folia is and who can use it
Folia is a shared family calendar for managing a child's weekly routine: what happens, where, when, and who is responsible. You set up a recurring weekly schedule and can change any single day.
Folia is for parents and caregivers. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use it. Children do not use Folia and do not have accounts. A child appears only as a nickname and an avatar that a parent creates.
3. Your account and your family schedule
Getting started. You can start using Folia without registering. We create an anonymous identity for you so your schedule is stored online from your first event. You can sign in with Apple or Google at any time to protect your schedule against loss when you delete the app or change phones. You need to sign in to invite another parent or nanny.
Keep access safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account and on your phone. Keep your Apple or Google sign-in secure, and tell us if you think someone has gained access without your permission.
Family schedule. A schedule belongs to the family, not to a single login. Parents can view and edit everything, add or remove family members, and send invites. A nanny and relatives can do only what was set in the permissions; view only assigned events, view and edit assigned events, view all events, view and edit all events.
Invite codes. An invite code works once, expires after about 7 days, and is replaced if you generate a new one. Only share a code with someone you trust. Whoever enters it joins the family schedule in the role you gave them, and you are responsible for the people you invite.
One account, one family. Please do not share your sign-in with other people. Invite them with a code instead.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of what you put into Folia: nicknames, avatar choices, events, place labels and feedback. You give us permission to store, process and display it only as needed to run Folia for you and your family, as described in the Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for what you enter. Please use nicknames, not full names, and do not enter home addresses, birthdates, photos or other personal details about your family or anyone else.
5. Acceptable use
Please use Folia only for its purpose: organizing family life. You agree not to:
use Folia for anything unlawful, or to harass, threaten or harm anyone.
enter content that is abusive, hateful or sexually explicit, or that exposes private information about another person.
try to access another family's schedule or data, or bypass the app's access controls.
try to break, overload, reverse engineer or interfere with Folia or its servers.
use bots, scripts or automated tools to create accounts or send messages.
use Folia to track or monitor someone who has not agreed to it, or to violate a court order or custody arrangement.
If you break these rules, we may remove content or suspend access, as explained in section 8.
6. Reminders and notifications
Folia can remind you about events. Reminders are scheduled on your phone and depend on your phone's settings, battery, connection and permissions. Alerts about changes made by other family members depend on push notifications, which are delivered through Apple and may be delayed or not delivered.
Folia is a helpful organizer, not a safety system. We cannot guarantee that a reminder or alert will arrive on time or at all. Please do not rely on Folia alone for anything urgent or safety-critical, such as picking up a child. Always confirm important plans with the people involved.
The schedule is only as accurate as the information you and your family enter.
7. Free service and changes to Folia
Folia is free to use, with no ads and no paywall. We may add optional features in the future. If we ever introduce paid features, we will tell you clearly before you are asked to pay for anything, and the core schedule will remain free.
We are always improving Folia. We may change, add or remove features, and we may update or stop the service. If we plan to stop the service, we will give you reasonable notice in the app and time to delete your data.
8. Ending your use, suspension and deletion
You can stop using Folia at any time. To remove your information, use Delete account (if you signed in) or Delete my data (if you have not) in Settings. Deleting the app alone does not delete data stored online. The Privacy Policy explains what happens to your data and to the family schedule.
We may suspend or end your access, or remove content, if you break these Terms, if the law requires it, or to protect Folia and its users. Where reasonably possible, we will tell you why.
9. Ownership of Folia
Folia, including the app, its design, illustrations, text and code, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on your own devices for your family's personal use.
You may not copy, sell, rent, modify or reverse engineer Folia, or use our name, logo or illustrations without our written permission, except where the law allows it.
If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them to improve Folia without owing you anything.
10. No warranties
We work hard to make Folia reliable, but we provide it "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will always work, be free of errors, or be available without interruption. Folia is a free service in an early stage, and features may change.
Your legal rights as a consumer, which cannot be limited by contract, stay intact.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for losses that result from your use of Folia, including a missed or late reminder, an incorrect or outdated schedule entry, a change made by another family member, or the loss of data. Our total responsibility to you for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for Folia (which is nothing for the free service).
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or intentional wrongdoing, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
12. Apple App Store terms
If you download Folia from the Apple App Store, these additional terms apply:
These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Folia or its content.
Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Folia. If Folia does not meet a warranty that applies to it, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price if there is one. Apple has no other warranty obligation for Folia.
We, not Apple, are responsible for any claims about Folia, including product liability claims, claims that Folia does not meet legal requirements, and consumer protection claims.
If a third party claims that Folia infringes its intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for the claim.
You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a US embargo and are not on a list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
You must also follow the terms of any third-party service you use with Folia, such as Apple and Google sign-in.
13. Governing law
If you are a consumer, you also keep the mandatory consumer protection rights of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts of that country. If we have a disagreement, we hope to resolve it with you informally first.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Folia grows. When we make an important change, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using Folia after the change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you can stop using Folia and delete your data.
15. Contact
Use Contact us in the app's Settings for questions about these Terms, or to send feedback or report a bug. We read every message but cannot reply to individual ones.
